Gentle Yoga & Yoga Nidra at Yogasara (In-Person)

Practice in person with Astrid at the iconic Yogasara studio in Montpelier on Fridays 5.30-6.30pm for Gentle Yoga & Yoga Nidra.
This accessible class is for people looking to gently release, reset and recharge after a long week, to de-stress and feel rejuvenated to move into their weekend with more energy and a sense of centredness.
Enjoy gentle yoga poses to stretch and release tension, improve flexibility, and ease stiff and achy joints and muscles after a long working week. The focus is not on strength-building (no planks in this class!) but on connecting to the body and breath through calming, mindful yoga poses.
As well as this relaxing movement practice, we will practice breathwork and vagus nerve activation exercises to reset and calm the nervous system and reduce stress and anxiety, before lying down to finish with 20 minutes of yoga nidra.

Yoga Nidra – Find your Sankalpa
This workshop is for anyone who has a yoga nidra practice and wants to connect deeper with the concept of Sankalpa, otherwise known as your intention, life purpose, or heartfelt resolve.
We will meditate and journal for the first 30 minutes on questions and prompts designed to help you connect to your intuition, your inner guide, to find your sankalpa. We will then take a 30 minute yoga nidra practice where we have additional space to connect to our inner longings and wishes, and feel the seed of the sankalpa grow.
The hoped outcome of this workshop is that you will have developed one or two sankalpas that you can work with during each yoga nidra that you practice, to enable your dreams, intentions and wishes to manifest in your life and become a reality.
This workshop will ask deep, philosophical and existential questions, so if you’re looking to delve into your identity, your calling, and to find new meaning in your life during the transitional stage you may be finding yourself in during this period of chronic illness, this workshop is for you.
Open to everyone including non-members. Suitable for all energy levels.

Om Chanti Chanti Chanti – Mantra and Yoga Nidra
This workshop is designed to combine the restorative and uplifting powers of both mantra chanting and yoga nidra, accompanied by sound and instrumentation, to connect deeply into the vagus nerve, connect to yourself, and to the wider universe and whatever your spiritual connection is.
Mantra chanting is used across the world in almost all cultures to bring people closer to their higher beings, to move into a trance state and feel deeply connected.
I believe a combined session of mantra and yoga nidra will result in a most restorative deep experience of oneness, bliss and centredness that will be a balm to the nervous system.
Mantras will be shared in advance and posted in the chat to enable you to join in.
Anna Cornish will be supporting the workshop and leading the sound part of the workshop, using a harmonium and her wonderful singing voice to lead mantras chanting. Astrid will lead the yoga nidra.
Open to all, including non members.

What is Yoga Nidra?
If you’ve never done yoga nidra before, some say it’s like an extended Savasana, but really it’s a lying down hypnotic form of guided meditation where the mind is brought into a trance-like state and the body is sent off to sleep.
Through breath awareness, body scans, visualisations and more, the experience of yoga nidra is a magical liminal state of consciousness where you linger in the deliciously creative, healing, and restorative place between wakefulness and sleep.
Excellent for those who find meditation challenging, but also a great compliment to a meditation practice. Ideal for people who find it hard to rest, be still, or fall asleep, it’s an incredible energy recharge which you can use to replace a power nap, and experience a sense of nurturing, peaceful rest.
